You wake up on the morning of your wedding day and the weather forecast is calling for rain – ALL DAY. You remind yourself that it’s supposed to be good luck to have rain on your wedding day (or so that is what everyone says) and the whole point of this event is to marry the love of your life… But what about the pictures!?! How are we going to do photos with this kind of weather? Well if you are as awesome as Lauren, you go out and pick up those pair of Hunter rain boots that you have been eyeing with an umbrella to match your wedding colors and embrace it as part of your wedding details. Then you take a breath because you have the YTK Team who is not afraid of a little water to get some stunning wedding photographs!
We have been so excited for Lauren and Dave’s wedding since their awesome Vintage Inspired Troy Engagement Session. We knew that they were the perfect YTK Couple with tons of their own awesome ideas that were “uniquely them”. Lauren and Dave both have a super fun retro mod style and I love how they really brought in vintage elements to create their Saratoga Wedding. Dave’s family are connected to Troy; the place where Lauren and Dave had their first blind date, the setting where he proposed to her and the place that they now call home. Lauren and her family are connected to Saratoga and they wanted to bring that piece in which is why the decided to say their “I Do’s” at the uber hip Universal Preservation Hall. This was a magical day full of rainy romance. We just love how Lauren and Dave weaved a beautiful tapestry of items, images and meaning back to the history of their family’s love stories and continued those traditions with their own.
If you follow the YTK Blog at all you know that we are a sucker for a great silhouette shot and this is one of my personal favorites.
Lauren’s wedding dress was originally her mother’s that she had modified and altered.
I love that she chose to do a shorter dress – it is so Retro Mod!
This photograph is Lauren’s great grandmother, Sophia who crocheted this lace piece that Lauren had incorporated in her beautiful bouquet.
Lauren had so many adorable details and we especially love the polaroid action!
Now time to slip into those new Hunter boots!
A sweet moment with the girls before the ceremony
and a snap of the handsome guys!
First looks are always awesome but this one was super fun. I just love how Lauren elbowed Dave to get the turnaround.
and their reactions were priceless!
Gorgeous flowers by Pesha
These two were stunning and I am so glad that the rain broke for a few of these shots.
One of the best features of Lauren’s retro mod dress was her super skirt action. It had great movement and the length could not have been more perfect with her boots!
Her vintage petticoat was just the right touch
We worked with the drizzle to capture some of these Saratoga Street Scenes! I just love the rainy romance.
UPH was a fabulous location for our Saratoga Wedding photographs.
The alter looked awesome with the exposed brick and back lighting.
The Ceremony was very personalized as Lauren and Dave were married by their good friend.
All in attendance stood to show their support of Lauren and Dave – it was a very touching moment.
We had a great set up in the dinning room at UPH thanks to the awesome team at The Old Daley Inn. Oh, and the food was DELISH!
At the reception Lauren and Dave had collected all of the vintage wedding photos from their families. It was so wonderful to see the of the generations of love.
Now time for some toasts and celebration.
These toasting glasses are the same ones that Lauren’s parents used at their wedding! Gotta love that Retro Mod!
They even had the vintage cake toppers from their parent’s weddings.
The new Mr. and Mrs. – We just love these printed forks!
Now it’s time to show off that swinging skirt and smooth dance moves!
UPH was such a great location for this Retro Mod Wedding. We just love texture in this shot.
Parent dances are my favorite part of the reception and I love how Lauren and Dave did theirs together.
We had an epically good time at the reception with tons of great music, dancing and our super fun photo booth with DIY background handcrafted by Dave and Lauren
We love this shot because of Dave’s glasses!
I can’t thank you enough for having YTK Photography capture your wedding. It was the best romantic rainy day ever. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness.
