They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck. I think this couple has lots of good luck flowing their way, because it also rained during their engagement shoot, which we made the most of since they came all the way from Massachusetts. The first half of their big day was overcast and just as we were making way to our final spots, the sky started to open up. Now, this girl isn’t afraid of rain in the least, it truly makes for some dramatic and romantic images. It was only fitting that on Rachel + Steve’s wedding day it didn’t just rain, it down poured. Luckily for us, we had an amazing venue to keep us dry with the perfect spots for some AHmazing portraits. These are just a couple of the many reasons why we love shooting in our home town of Troy at Brown’s Revolution Hall.
The Story, written by Steven + Rachel: What happens when two strangers living in Massachusetts, but from different parts of New York, swipe right? They find something in common to talk about.
Dog walks on cold Winter days grew a love between their pups, Rosie and Luna. From that point on, Rachel and Steve knew this was it. The first kiss was New Years Eve, after seeing the movie Joy. Their first Summer together was spent going on adventures to explore nearly a dozen different creameries. That same summer, Rachel took Steve to see Zac Brown Band, his first real concert. As each day passed, their love and bond grew stronger, while overlooking each others quirks and enjoying each others shared interests.
Rachel told Steve early on that she doesn’t like surprises. She is an event planner and likes to know what is going on. So, how does one propose to someone that doesn’t like surprises? Steve threw her off by saying that she might have to wait a few more months, but then finds the perfect opportunity. The Dave Matthew’s Band and Tim Reynolds concert in Saratoga Springs, which was also the day after her birthday. After several close calls with Rachel almost seeing the ring on the way to concert, Steve successfully got Rachel to unroll a blanket with an image inside that read, “You and Me together, we can do anything,” a picture of her ring, and the words, “Rachel will you marry me?” A confused and shocked Rachel then saw Steve on one knee asking her to marry him… and you already know what she said…
The Style: Rachel and Steve are both incredibly close to their families and their celebration was truly a big bash set in the industrial style that they both love so much. Rev Hall was the ideal venue and perfect “middle point,” as so many friends and family traveled in to celebrate this super sweet couple. Steve’s older brother, Peter, preformed the ceremony and included so many funny and touching moments. As you know Rachel is a planner and we are just wild about her details, color pallet and style. THAT NAKED CAKE was one of the best cakes we have seen this season and her flowers were to die for. She wanted something unique, fresh and authentic. We just loved every moment of this moody, industrial wedding and can not be happier for Rachel + Steve!
