This story is about holding onto traditions, creating new ones, family, love, antique heirlooms and a complicated chicken dish. For Olivia + Keegan’s love story, you have to believe in destiny. It’s not too often that you can look at a couple and just go – oh yea… they have been in love before, like in a past life, soulmate, olde world love kinda way…. Connected from the corners of the county, from Washington to New York – they found each other. It was easy for everyone around them to see that there was something different about this relationship. As avid cooks, world travelers, lovers of antiques and vintage flair all the pieces just fit perfectly.
Keegan says “Like traveling with someone, cooking is a real test if you can work together. ” On their third date they cooked together and it was effortless like they had been cooking together for years. Over time a particular dish became special to them, Spatchcoked Chicken. The day that Keegan got the call letting him know that the engagement ring was done, he decided to make this special meal and didn’t want to wait – He proposed that night. After they made their special meal together, Keegan got down on one knee and and said “I am proposing to you not for all the big things in life, I am proposing to you because I want to wake up with you, have coffee with you, and enjoy the all little moments. – That is what love is about – the little moments, and I want to cook with you for the rest of my life.”
For their Wedding, they incorporated in some new traditions, like having two of their very good friends marry them, old heirlooms like Olivia’s dress and filled the day with family and the amazing upstate fall foliage. Olivia was extremely close to her Grandmother and wanted to wear her wedding dress on this magical day. This era is totally her style and all of the details came together so beautiful – She looked like she walked off the set of a 1940’s Hollywood film! Olivia poses in her Grandmother’s wedding Dress Circa 1940 with a vintage photograph of her Grandmother on her Wedding day.
